A Brief Introduction to My Work
All of my work is made using stoneware clay, fired to 1260ºC. I focus on slab building, making use of formers when necessary.
I love to start with a shape and then to manipulate the clay body so that the final piece is unique, with an emphasis on work that is unusual in shape, colour, texture, and sometimes all three. This means many of my garden and household pots have shapes designed to fit those awkward or unusual space which we all have.
Sometimes I make pieces with closures. This can vary from a zip to buttons or found items such as bolts or fishing line used to “sew” a split in the clay. Examples of these pieces can be seen in my archive gallery.
The galleries contain photos of my work from the past and present. With every piece hand-built from start to finish they are all one-of-a-kind. When you buy one you will know it is unique, built from clay and my imagination, time and effort.
